The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has announced the conclusion of its Special 301 Out-of-Cycle Review of Notorious Markets1, launched on October 1, 2010, which identifies examples of 16 Internet and 17 physical marketplaces that have been subject to enforcement action connected with counterfeiting and piracy, or that may merit further investigation for possible intellectual property right (IPR) infringements.

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has announced the conclusion of a joint International Radiological Assistance Program Training for Emergency Responders (I-RAPTER) conducted with the government of Malaysia this week, to ensure integration of the Malaysian Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) with port and customs personnel responsible for activities associated with the Megaports Initiative.
The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has announced the successful installation of radiation detection equipment at the Port of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in partnership with the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and Taiwan's Ministry of Finance and Directorate General of Customs. The equipment was successfully installed as part of NNSA's Megaports Initiative, which works in more than 35 countries to detect and prevent nuclear smuggling.
The National Nuclear Security Administration and the Republic of Lithuania announced that they have signed an Implementation Agreement on Cooperation in Preventing Illicit Trafficking of Nuclear and Other Radioactive Material as part of NNSA's Second Line of Defense (SLD) program. The agreement was announced days after President Obama unveiled a budget request that includes $2.5 billion for fiscal year 2012 and $14.2 billion over the next five years to support NNSA’s nuclear nonproliferation programs.

On February 8, 2011, Senator Lugar (R)1 introduced S. 309, which would allow the President to repeal the Jackson-Vanik trade restrictions on Moldovan products and authorize the extension of permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) treatment to products of Moldova. (Senator Lugar introduced an identical bill in 2009.)
