On February 1, 2007, the Senate amended and passed H.R. 2, a bill which would increase the minimum wage from $5.15 per hour to $7.25 per hour over a period of two years. H.R. 2 would also apply federal minimum wage requirements to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands by increasing the minimum wage in the Commonwealth to $3.55 per hour, with $0.50 per hour increases (or less) every six months until it reaches the Federal minimum wage.
