The Residential Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act (H.R. 1796), which was ordered reported by the House Energy and Commerce Committee on July 15, 2010, would require the Consumer Product Safety Commission to establish mandatory consumer product safety standards for carbon monoxide and similar detectors.
On July 21, 2010, the Senate Committee on Appropriations’ Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies approved for full committee consideration an original bill making appropriations for Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies for fiscal year 2011.

On July 21, 2010, the Senate passed an amended version of House-passed H.R. 4213, the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act (Tax Extenders or Jobs bill). (The House-passed version of H.R. 4213 included cotton and wool fund provisions, etc.) The House is expected to vote on whether to agree to the Senate's amendment of H.R. 4213 on July 22, 2010.
