The Bureau of Industry and Security states it has renewed its Temporary Denial Order against Mahan Airways of Iran, Zarand Aviation and related parties, and notes that three new related parties have been added.
The Postal Service has issued a final rule, effective October 3, 2011, that will add a new section 135.6 to 39 CFR Part 20 to revise its International Mail Manual (IMM) to incorporate new maximum limits for the outbound mailing of lithium batteries. Written comments are due by September 26, 2011.
The Census Department has provided a video that contains a short lesson on the perks of using the AESDirect program's Shipment Manager that was released in early 2011. Census states those viewing the video will learn how to: (1) easily locate, manage and monitor EEI (electronic export information) submitted by a company through AESDirect, (2) quickly determine current shipment status, and (3) download export data to a spreadsheet to create customizable reports.
The President's Export Council Subcommittee on Export Administration will meet on September 19 and 20, 2011 in Miami, FL. Among other things, the agenda includes an export control reform update, status of the 2011 workplan and discussion of the 2012 workplan, and a presentation of papers or comments by the public. (The PECSEA provides advice on matters pertinent to those portions of the Export Administration Act, as amended, that deal with U.S. policies of encouraging trade with all countries with which the U.S. has diplomatic or trading relations and of controlling trade for national security and foreign policy reasons.)
The Office of Foreign Assets Control states that it received a total of 393 applications requesting authorization to export agricultural commodities, medicine, and medical devices to Iran and Sudan under the one-year specific licensing regime of the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act (TSRA) in the last quarter of fiscal year 2010 (July - September 2010). U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued a press release announcing that an Iranian national, Davoud Baniameri, has been sentenced to 51 months in prison for trying to illegally export missile components and radio test sets from the U.S. to Iran, via the United Arab Emirates.
