U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued an ABI administrative message stating that in Adm: 05-0018, which listed the ABI system requirements for filing U.S.-Australia Free Trade Agreement (UAFTA) claims, CBP had erroneously indicated that the Special Program Indicator (SPI) in record identifier 50 is located in positions 79-80. The Census Bureau has posted to its Web site a list of 186 Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers that are invalid for use in the Automated Export System (AES) as of January 1, 2005.

The Journal of Commerce reports that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has vetoed a bill that would have forced marine terminal operators to obtain a court order in order to deny equipment (such as chassis and containers) to a harbor trucker who has not paid late fees or other charges.
