The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control is hosting a sanctions symposium at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C. on April 8. President Barack Obama issued an executive order on March 17 to sanction seven high-ranking Russian nationals in connection with Russian violation of Ukrainian territorial integrity and to authorize sanctions on additional individuals involved in recent the recent crisis in Ukraine, the White House said in a press release. The order blocks property and interests in property located in the U.S. of the following individuals and blocks the transfer of funds to the individuals:
The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued 203 authorizations to export agricultural commodities, medicine and medical devices to Iran and Sudan out of a total 298 applications received in the last quarter of Fiscal Year 2013, OFAC said. The authorizations are required under the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act of 2000. During the quarter, OFAC issued 324 total licenses to authorize such exports.

The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) settled a potential civil liability case with Ubiquiti Networks for alleged violations of the Iranian Transactions and Sanctions Regulations committed from 2008 to 2011, said OFAC. Ubiquiti allegedly engaged in the export, reexport and facilitation of export with distributors, located in the United Arab Emirates and Greece, that then supplied products, such as broadband wireless connectivity and related items, to Iran. Ubiquiti agreed to pay $504,225 in the settlement for violations that OFAC says were not voluntarily disclosed but constitute a non-egregious case.
