CBP has issued a memo regarding the changes to duty-free treatment of certain articles under the Generalized System of Preferences that were effective with respect to goods entered or withdrawn from warehouse on or after July 1, 2010. CBP has issued a memorandum announcing a special import quota of 14,717,826 kg for upland cotton that is provided for in HTS Chapter 99, Subchapter III, U.S. Note 6 and is entered under HTS 9903.52.99. (CBP notes that this quantity is not subject to the TRQs in Chapter 52 Additional U.S. Notes 5 through 10.)

CBP has posted the U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter for August 5-11, 2010. The Blotter provides information on Border Patrol activities during the specified week.
The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has voted unanimously to approve a nearly $1 billion plan to replace the aging Gerald Desmond Bridge with a new, nearly $1 billion span that will improve traffic flow, safety and vessel navigation. Among other things, the new bridge would be higher to allow for the newest generation of green cargo ships to pass underneath.
