U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a notice announcing that the Departmental Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Related Homeland Security Functions (COAC) will meet on November 9, 2010 in Washington, DC from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
CBP has issued a CSMS message announcing that it will be offering a free webinar on Advanced ACE Reports for importers and brokers who utilize ACE reports and want to learn advanced tips and tricks to enable them to manage the reports tool to extract information necessary for their business. According to CBP, the webinar will include modifying reports, scheduling reports, multiple variables, graphic displays, etc.

On October 12, 2010, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials announced the seizure of a shipment arriving from China containing counterfeit wool scarves with a manufacture’s suggested retail price of $2.4 million. After a thorough examination and research, CBP officers and import specialists at the Los Angeles/Long Beach seaport determined that all 24,000 pieces were counterfeits. The infringing wool scarves are marked with a counterfeit “Coach” trademark. The domestic value of this shipment is $84,920.
CBP's Port of Los Angeles has issued a Public Bulletin reminding the importing community that certificates of reimbursement or non-reimbursement of antidumping duties must be provided prior to liquidation.

On October 13, 2010, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved David Arian and Robin Kramer to the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners. The Harbor Commission oversees the management and operation at the Port of Los Angeles, the U.S.’ busiest container port.
