Export.gov is announcing that a webinar on "Doing Business In Algeria" will take place on August 24, 2010, at 11:30 am EDT. The webinar is designed to provide an overview of business opportunities and best practices in this market of 36 million inhabitants. Participants will hear from trade professionals at the U.S. Embassy in Algiers about best practices, hot industries, and upcoming events.
Export.gov is announcing four webinars in October and November 2010, to assist U.S. companies export their products internationally. These webinars are being offered free of charge.
The Census Bureau and the Bureau of Economic Analysis have released June 2010 statistics on international trade in goods and services, which state, among other things, that total June exports of $150.5 billion and imports of $200.3 billion resulted in a goods and services deficit of $49.9 billion. June exports were $2.0 billion less than May exports of $152.4 billion.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued updated versions of its list of Argentina (August 16, 2010) and Mexico (August 16, 2010) firms eligible to export meat and poultry to the U.S.
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced on August 16, 2010 the opening of a new plant inspection station for imported plants in Miami, Fla. APHIS states that Miami is the busiest plant inspection location in the U.S., handling 78.5 percent of all propagative plant material imported in 2009. The original facility was no longer able to handle the volume of plant materials received at the Miami port on a daily basis.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service has made available the draft U.S. positions that will be discussed at the 19th session of the Codex1 Committee on Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Foods that will take place in Vermont on August 30 -- September 3, 2010.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Commodity Credit Corporation is amending a previous final rule that implemented the 2008 Farm Bill provisions for the cotton program to remove definitions that are no longer used concerning Northern Europe prices for cotton, clarifying changes to the regulations for the cotton program and for CCC-approved warehouses, etc.
