On October 14, 2010, APHIS updated its Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Import PPQ Manual. The manual lists by country fruits and vegetables that are admissible into the United States. It includes a description of methods for sampling and inspecting selected fruits and vegetables. It also contains pictorial identification guides, and a glossary for common and scientific names of fruits and vegetables.
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration announces a public meeting on November 17, 2010 regarding international standards on the transport of dangerous goods in preparation for the 38th session of the UN Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods to be held November 29 - December 7, 2010 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Agriculture Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs Edward Avalos announced new efforts to protect the livestock trade between the United States and Mexico. After touring a temporary inspection facility in Laredo with Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Avalos announced that USDA will be opening a temporary cattle inspection facility in Eagle Pass, Texas, the third temporary facility opened since the suspensions earlier this year.
The Federal Trade Commission has issued a Federal Register notice to request comments on its proposed revisions to the "Green Guides," which aim to respond to changes in the marketplace and help marketers avoid making unfair or deceptive environmental marketing claims.
