The Foreign Agricultural Service has issued its annual guide to the Canadian market for U.S. food exporters. The 2010 version of the guide includes updates to the organic food section, market sector reports, consumer trends, and best prospects for U.S. consumer-oriented agricultural products in the Canadian market.
The President is continuing the national emergency with respect to the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, declared in Executive Order 13413, beyond October 27, 2010 for another one year period. Among other things, EO 13413 blocks the property and interests in property of persons contributing to the conflict in the DRC.
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative states that the tenth meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade and Investment was recently held in Asunción, Paraguay. The Office of Foreign Assets Control is publishing the names of two newly-designated individuals whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to Executive Order 13224, "Blocking Property and Prohibiting Transactions With Persons Who Commit, Threaten To Commit, or Support Terrorism," effective October 20, 2010. The two individuals are Haji Agha Jan Alizai and Saleh Mohammad Kakar of Afghanistan.
The Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation announced on October 25, 2010 their proposal for new standards for three categories of heavy trucks: combination tractors, heavy-duty pickups and vans, and vocational vehicles. According to the press release, this proposal will be published in the Federal Register.
