BIS Canceled TAC Meetings From October to End of Year
The Bureau of Industry and Security has canceled each of its Technical Advisory Committee meetings since the start of October, including the next meeting of its Regulations and Procedures TAC that was scheduled for Dec. 9, according to the agency's website.

A person familiar with the matter suggested the cancellations were partly a result of the recent federal government shutdown, which prevented BIS from sending notices about those TAC meetings to the Federal Register. The shutdown ended in mid-November.
The BIS website also shows the charters for the Sensors and Instrumentation TAC and the Materials and Equipment TAC expired in August and October, respectively. TAC charters automatically terminate after two years if not renewed.
A BIS spokesperson didn't respond to a request for comment.
BIS earlier this year started restricting the public sessions of its TAC meetings, a move that current and former administration officials, along with industry representatives, said has jeopardized a crucial outlet for industry feedback about new regulations (see 2509120021).
