The Agricultural Market Information System was launched by the Group of 20 in 2011 and looks to elevate market transparency and food security through coordinated policy action. The group's Nov. 13-14 meeting was held at WTO headquarters, the WTO said. Participants at the meeting said that despite trade tensions, global agricultural commodity markets are "well supplied in 2025 due to a confluence of factors, including favourable weather conditions in many producing regions."

Speaking at the meeting, Edwini Kessie, director of the WTO's Agriculture and Commodities Division, said the WTO supports the Agricultural Market Information System through its "regular policy monitoring, working closely with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and other AMIS Secretariat members."
