The Oct. 8 letter, signed by 21 Democrats, called for "immediate steps" to "reset and repair this critical partnership," and said that the tariffs on India hurt Indian manufacturers "while simultaneously raising prices" for Americans and "damaging the intricate supply chains that American companies depend on to bring products to market."

Reps. Deborah Ross, D-N.C., and Ro Khanna, D-Calif., led the group of lawmakers and said in a press release that the tariffs "have undermined relations with India."

The lawmakers said they hope the Trump administration will "take the appropriate steps to restore this relationship, beginning with a review of tariff policy and continued dialogue with the Indian leadership."
