WIA Calls on FCC to Approve Wireless Streamlining NPRM
Representatives from the Wireless Infrastructure Association urged the FCC this week to approve an NPRM that examines ways to streamline wireless infrastructure rules. According to a filing posted Wednesday in docket 25-276, the group met with a staffer from the Wireless Bureau about the item, which is set for a commissioner vote Tuesday (see 2509090060).

“WIA discussed persistent barriers to deployment experienced by its members and its appreciation for the Commission’s continued commitment to eliminating these barriers to deployment,” the filing said. The group also highlighted that some jurisdictions “still assess fees for access to the public Right-of-Way based on the applicant’s gross revenues from use of the ROW, rather than the cost incurred by the jurisdiction in processing the application.” WIA offered examples from various states of problems that its members encountered.
