The designations target Georgian politician and "media mogul" Levan Vasadze, who the U.K. said has used his platforms to spread pro-Russian disinformation, and businessman Otar Partskhaladze, who has "extensive links to Russia and to the highest levels of the Georgian Dream party," the country's ruling political party.

The U.K. also sanctioned London-based Aeza International, which has provided internet services to Russian disinformation campaigns, and Russia-based HeliCo Group, a company operating in Russia's transport industry.

The U.K.'s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office also said the country sanctioned two oil tankers for transporting Russian oil to the Georgian port of Batumi.
