House Renews China Select Committee, Human Rights Panel

The House voted Jan. 3 to renew the House Select Committee on China as part of an adoption of rules for the new 119th Congress.

Committee Chairman John Moolenaar, R-Mich., and ranking member Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., welcomed the action, which had been expected. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said in July that he wanted the committee to continue its work addressing threats from China (see 2407080046). The committee was created in January 2023.

The House also voted Jan. 3 to renew the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, which was formed in 2008.
