4 Republicans to Join Ways and Means Committee

Four Republicans will join the House Ways and Means Committee in January: Reps. Aaron Bean of Florida, Max Miller of Ohio, Nathaniel Moran of Texas and Rudy Yakym of Indiana.

Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo., in welcoming the members, chosen by the House Republican steering committee, said the committee will be working immediately on the Trump tax cuts, many of which expire at the end of 2025. He added, "We will use our trade laws to help American farmers and workers while finding ways to expand access to healthcare in rural America and for our seniors."

The House Democrats have not yet named their new members for the committee, or for the trade subcommittee's ranking member. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., had been the top Democrat for trade, before his retirement at the end of this year.
