2 Florida Men Charged With Illegally Exporting Firearms to Colombia

Jordan Goudreau of Melbourne, Florida, and Yacsy Alvarez of Tampa were charged with conspiracy to violate export laws, smuggling goods from the U.S., violating the Arms Export Control Act and violating the Export Control Reform Act, DOJ announced. The pair allegedly conspired with others to ship "AR-type firearms, night vision devices, laser sights and other equipment" from the U.S. to Colombia.

Starting in November 2019, Goudreau and Alvarez bought the equipment from Goudreau's Melbourne-based company, Silvercorp, and shipped them to Colombia to ultimately "carry out activities in Venezuela," DOJ said. Goudreau also was charged with violating the National Firearms Act and unlawful possession of machine guns.

Each faces five years in prison for the conspiracy charge, 10 years for the smuggling count, 20 years for violating export control laws and 10 years each for violating the National Firearms Act and unlawful possession of a machine gun, DOJ said.
