Biden Asks Congress to Reauthorize AGOA Ahead of Congressional Forum

President Joe Biden released a statement July 23 calling on Congress to reauthorize the African Growth and Opportunity Act ahead of a forum this week on the trade deal, which is set to expire in 2025. “America is all in on Africa,” Biden said in the statement.

He asked Congress to “quickly reauthorize and modernize” AGOA. The act, he said, “has formed the bedrock of America’s economic partnership with African nations,” helping to create jobs and advance human rights in sub-Saharan Africa while strengthening supply chains on both sides.
