New Dems Call for Quick AGOA Renewal

New Democrat Coalition trade task force leaders, joined by economic growth task force leaders, called on House and Senate leaders "to prioritize the reauthorization and modernization of AGOA," the African Growth and Opportunity Act. They said it should be renewed as quickly as possible, ahead of its September 2025 expiration.

"Africa has changed dramatically since the inception of AGOA, and our trade program must reflect that transformation to increase economic growth and drive more investment to both Africa and the U.S.," wrote Reps. Lizzie Fletcher, D-Texas, Don Beyer, D-Va., Jimmy Panetta, D-Calif., Chrissy Houlahan, D-Pa., and Nikema Williams, D-Ga.

The letter was timed to an AGOA forum meeting this week.
