ACE Not Impacted by Global Tech Outage, CBP Says

ACE hasn't been impacted by the worldwide issue with Microsoft's third-party information technology vendor CrowdStrike, CBP said in a July 19 CSMS message, but trade users using a Windows computer to access ACE may see some disruptions.

A software update, that turned out to be flawed, involving cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike affected Microsoft Windows operating systems, causing disruptions among CrowdStrike's customers July 19, including major banks, Fortune 500 companies and airlines.

CBP "is actively monitoring the worldwide issue with Microsoft’s third-party IT vendor CrowdStrike. We will provide updates as needed until an ultimate fix is issued," the agency said. CBP added that users using non-Windows computers don't appear to be impacted and are able to access ACE and process cargo as usual.
