Non-EU Countries Implement EU's New Russian Human Rights Sanctions Framework
A group of European countries not in the EU aligned with two recent sanctions decisions from the bloc pertaining to Russia and its war in Ukraine.

In one, the EU created a new framework for restrictions for those that commit serious human rights abuses and undermine the rule of law in Russia. Under the new regime, the European Council sanctioned 19 individuals and one entity. The countries of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Modlova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway aligned with the decision, the council announced June 14.
In a second decision, the council sanctioned two individuals and one entity for undermining Ukrainian sovereignty. The countries of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovia, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway also imposed the decision, the council said.
