Senator to Propose Labeling Palestinian Authority as Terrorist Group

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said May 29 that he plans to introduce legislation designating the Palestinian Authority as a foreign terrorist organization for paying Palestinians who commit terrorist attacks against Israelis.

Graham said he wants to pressure the Palestinian Authority to change its policy. "If you kill a Jew, your family is better off than if you had a job," he said at a press conference in Tel Aviv. "That needs to stop."

Graham also urged the Biden administration to reconsider its opposition to sanctioning the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has threatened to issue arrest warrants for two senior Israeli officials over the Gaza war (see 2405290004). He said he not only considers the charges unfounded but worries the ICC, if unchecked, will eventually take similar action against American troops.

Graham made his comments while visiting Israel for the fifth time since the start of the war.
