EU Clears Way for EU-Kenya Trade Deal to Take Effect
The Council of the European Union on May 30 cleared the way for the EU-Kenya Economic Partnership Agreement to enter into force, the council announced. It will take effect on the first day of the second month after the date on which the countries have told each other they have completed their internal procedures.

The deal will provide all Kenyan exports, except arms, duty- and quota-free access to the EU market and will partially and gradually opens the Kenyan market to EU imports, the council said. The agreement also has provisions on trade and sustainable development, including "climate and environmental protection and labour rights, and a transparent dispute resolution mechanism," the council said.
