Deputy USTR Nominee Withdrawn
Nelson Cunningham, the administration's choice for deputy U.S. trade representative for the Western Hemisphere, Europe, the Middle East, labor and the environment, has had his nomination withdrawn. The position has been empty for more than six months.

Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, considered one of the most endangered incumbents up for election in November, said he opposed the choice because Cunningham advocated for the Trans-Pacific Partnership and because his firm, McLarty Associates, lobbied for a Chinese company that makes glass at a plant in Ohio (see 2401240046).
The State Department on May 23 announced Cunningham as senior adviser to the undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy and the environment.
