Biden Signs Bill Adding USDA to CFIUS

President Joe Biden signed into law March 9 an FY 2024 six-bill appropriations package that adds the agriculture secretary to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. to review agricultural transactions.

USDA is expected to hire another person or two to help with its involvement on CFIUS, Export Compliance Daily has learned.

The package, which Congress passed last week, also contains $191 million for the Bureau of Industry and Security, the same amount as the FY 2023 enacted level and about $30 million below Biden's request (see 2403040061).
