Four Senators Ask Biden to Hike Section 301 Tariffs on Solar Panels

Both of Georgia's senators, plus Sens. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Marco Rubio, R-Fla., urged the Biden administration to raise Section 301 tariffs on Chinese solar panels, cells and wafers. They said a Chinese panel costs more than 60% less than U.S.-made panels.

“China’s aggressive subsidies for its own solar manufacturing industry demonstrate its intent to control the industry globally,” wrote Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, both Democrats from Georgia, with Brown and Rubio.

They said that China's overcapacity "is an existential threat to the U.S. solar industry and American energy security,” and that having domestic production of solar panels is key to energy security.
