CBP said that customs brokers may pay the fee electronically via the eCBP portal starting on Nov. 29. The portal was announced as part of the customs broker modernization final rule issued in October of last year (see 2210170027).

"The eCBP portal streamlines the payment process, allows for easy collection of fees, and offers customs brokers the flexibility and convenience to pay licensed customs broker fees easily and effectively," the agency said. "Thus, CBP encourages customs brokers to pay the annual customs broker permit user fee electronically via the eCBP portal."
