ILWU Withdraws Notice of Planned Resumption of Canadian West Coast Port Strike

International Longshore and Warehouse Union Canada said late on July 19 that it has "removed" a notice that it would be again be striking at Canadian West Coast ports beginning July 22. The 72-hour strike notice had been issued earlier that day (see 2307190031). The ILWU did not respond for further comment.

"The past 24 hours have demonstrated that this continues to be a fluid and unpredictable situation," said a news release from the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association following the ILWU announcement. "We will communicate as appropriate with key stakeholders as we receive clarification."
