Tai, EU Counterpart to Talk Steel Again in Brussels

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative announced that USTR Katherine Tai will travel to Brussels July 20-21, on her way back from Kenya.

The July 14 announcement said Tai and European Commission Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis will be negotiating on a green and fairly traded steel and aluminum framework, which the EU expects will eliminate tariff rate quotas on European steel exports. "This will be Ambassador Tai’s second meeting in July with Executive Vice President Dombrovskis and reflects the strong ongoing commitment from the U.S. and the EU to reach consensus on the agreement by the October 2023 deadline," the news release said.
