Non-EU Countries Align With EU Sanctions Moves on Iran, Syria

A group of European countries not in the EU aligned with two recent European Council sanctions moves under its Iran and Syria sanctions regimes.

On May 25, the council extended the Syria sanctions list until June 1, 2024. The countries of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Ukraine, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway aligned with the decision, the council said June 16.

The council on May 22 added five people and two entities to its Iran sanctions list. The countries of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway also imposed the decision, the council said.
