UPS to Close Sandler Travis Trade Advisory Services Detroit-Area HQ

UPS plans to close the Sandler Travis Trade Advisory Services headquarters in Southfield, Michigan, and cut 82 jobs, according to an April 4 report in Crain’s Detroit Business. UPS acquired the trade consultancy in 2017 (see 1712040023).

“We are committed to running a highly efficient and resilient business model, especially in the face of choppy macro conditions,” a UPS spokesperson told us. “With that in mind, we are simplifying our trade advisory portfolio to focus only on core services for our customers, and have made the difficult decision to eliminate some positions. We are well positioned for continued and future growth, and this move is designed to create an even stronger UPS.”

A message on the STTAS website says the brand was retired as of February 2023, and that UPS will be “formally integrating” the subsidiary “into the UPS portfolio.”
