EU Parliamentary Researchers Highlight Calls for 'Strict' Russia Sanctions Enforcement
The European Parliamentary Research Service released a briefing covering a timeline of EU sanctions on Russia, including an analysis of the sanctions, their effectiveness and their economic impact.

The report lists "demands" from the European Parliament: greater outreach to countries that have not taken up the sanctions; investigation and prosecution by EU member states of sanctions circumvention; creation of a legal regime for seizing frozen assets; development of a legal framework for designating states as terrorism sponsors; and a European Commission proposal to amend the Global Human Rights sanctions regime by including acts of corruption from officials in Russia and Belarus.
The research service said political and military leadership in Russia and Belarus should be held "accountable for the crime of aggression against Ukraine," and the EU should pursue "strict enforcement of all sanctions."
