Non-EU Countries Align With EU Sanctions Moves Relating to Ukrainian Sovereignty
A group of European countries not in the EU aligned with five recent sanctions actions taken by the bloc pertaining to those who undermine the sovereignty of Ukraine, the European Council announced. In September, the European Council extended the restrictions until March. North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway imposed the decision.

In December, the council set an oil price cap for crude oil and petroleum oils that come from or are exported from Russia at $60 per barrel (see 2301200033). North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway aligned with the move, the council said.
Also in December, the council took further restrictive measures against offending parties and amended certain existing restrictions in response to Russia's actions to destabilize Ukraine. The council further implemented a new exception to the ban on making funds or economic resources available to certain designated individuals that undermine the financial integrity of Ukraine. The council also amended certain existing derogations. North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway aligned with the decisions. The same countries then imposed the council's move to amend the list of individuals and entities subject to the Ukraine restrictions.
