OFAC Sanctions Iranian Military Foundation, Security Officials
The Office of Foreign Assets Control this week designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Cooperative Foundation along with five of its board members, Iran's deputy minister of intelligence and security, and four senior IRGC commanders.

The Cooperative Foundation is "a key economic pillar of the IRGC," established to manage its investments and presence across the Iranian economy, OFAC said. Though established to support IRGC service members, the foundation has morphed into a "slush fund" for IRGC personnel and their business interests, the agency said. The foundation's funds also allegedly have supported foreign military operations, including payments to foreign militant groups. The IRGC continues to aggressively crack down on peaceful protests and has played a leading role in suppressing protests through human rights abuses, OFAC said.
“The United States remains committed to supporting the Iranian people in their demands for human rights and other fundamental freedoms,” said Brian Nelson, Treasury undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence. “Along with our partners, we will continue to hold the Iranian regime accountable so long as it relies upon violence, sham trials, the execution of protestors, and other means of suppressing its people.”
