Bill Introduced to Make Airports in NY, Texas Near Borders Ports of Entry

Reps. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and Mayra Flores, R-Texas, introduced a bill to make Plattsburgh International Airport and Valley International Airport official ports of entry. Currently, these airports pay for CBP's cargo examinations, immigration inspections and the like.

Stefanik said the Plattsburgh, New York, airport pays CBP $600,000 annually. She said the two airports are the only commercial airports near the borders of the U.S. that are not ports of entry. Valley International is in Harlingen, Texas.
