OFAC Issues Iran, Mayanmar Designations

The Office of Foreign Assets Control on Oct. 6 sanctioned seven Iranian government officials responsible for the country's internet shutdown and Myanmar businesspeople for supporting the Myanmar military.

The Iranian sanctions target Ahmad Vahidi, Iran’s interior minister; Eisa Zarepour, the communications minister; and several military and security service officials: Hossein Sajedinia, Yadollah Javani, Vahid Mohammad Naser Majid, Hossein Nejat and Hossein Rahimi.

The Myanmar sanctions target Aung Moe Myint and his company, Dynasty International, for facilitating arms deals on behalf of the country's military. Also sanctioned were Hlaing Moe Myint, who established Dynasty International alongside Aung Moe Myint, and Myo Thitsar, Dynasty International director.
