Brazil, Canada Announce AD/CV Actions on Chinese Imports

Brazil and Canada recently announced antidumping and countervailing duty actions on products from mainland China, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council reported Sept. 23.

Brazil issued a final determination in its “special origin verification procedure” for certain welded stainless steel pipes that were declared as originating from Hong Kong and manufactured by Evertec (HK) Stainless, HKTDC said. Brazil determined those imports from Evertec will be considered originating from mainland China.

Canada began a scope proceeding on whether certain aluminum extrusions are from mainland China and subject to AD and CV duties, HKTDC said. Canada will try to determine whether the aluminum tubing “produced via a flow form process” are subject to duties that apply to certain merchandise from mainland China.
