Non-EU European Countries Align With Recent Russia, Belarus and ISIL Sanctions Moves
A group of European countries not in the EU aligned with a series of sanctions decisions implemented by the bloc relating to Russia and Belarus' invasion of Ukraine and to ISIL (Da'esh) and al-Qaida, the European Council announced. Groups of countries aligned with five recent sanctions moves relating to the war in Ukraine and one recent move over ISIL and al-Qaida.

The council June 3 added 12 individuals and eight entities to its restrictions on Belarus for its role in the invasion. North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Ukraine then aligned with the decision, the council said. Also June 3, the council took up sectoral sanctions against Belarus. These same non-EU countries aligned with the restrictions, the council announced June 10.
The same countries then aligned themselves with the EU sanctions decisions to add 65 individuals and 18 entities to the sanctions regime, the council said. Those countries, minus Norway, also imposed the EU's other sanctions moves adopted June 3, the council announced.
On May 30, the council added two individuals and one entity to its ISIL and al-Qaida sanctions regime. Accordingly, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia and Georgia also imposed the restrictions, the council said.
