The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices as of Jan. 22 (some may also be given separate headlines):

  • Implementation of the United Kingdom Trade Continuity Remission Order, 2021. The Canada Border Services Agency on Jan. 21 issued a revision to Customs Notice 20-39, which outlines the Canada-United Kingdom Trade Continuity Agreement (CUKTCA) tariff benefits that came into force Jan. 1. The agency outlines the difference between the Most Favored Nation tariff rate of customs duty and the rate of customs duty that would apply under the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union. Importers that qualify for CUKTCA must complete Canada Customs Coding Form B3-3 identifying the proper tariff treatment and special authority.
  • CBSA issues notice of final determination regarding decorative and other non-structural plywood from China. The Canada Border Services Agency on Jan. 21 terminated the dumping investigation into certain decorative and other nonstructural plywood exported from China by Celtic Co., Ltd., Linyi Evergreen Wood Co., Ltd., Linyi Huasheng Yongbin Wood Co., Ltd., Pingyi Jinniu Wood Co., Ltd., Pizhou Jiangshan Wood Co., Ltd., Shandong Good Wood Imp. and Exp. Co., Ltd., and Xuzhou Shengping Imp and Exp Co., Ltd. CBSA also terminated the countervailing investigation covering certain decorative and other non‑structural plywood exported from China by Celtic Co., Ltd., Linyi Evergreen Wood Co., Ltd., Linyi Huasheng Yongbin Wood Co., Ltd., Linyi Jiahe Wood Industry Co., Ltd., Pingyi Jinniu Wood Co., Ltd., Pizhou Jiangshan Wood Co., Ltd., Shandong Good Wood Imp. and Exp. Co., Ltd., and Xuzhou Shengping Imp. and Exp. Co., Ltd., but kept open the countervailing investigation of all other exporters of subject merchandise from China, after finding they are subsidized. CBSA also made a final determination of dumping of the subject merchandise originating in or exported by all other exporters from China, and the investigation in those cases has not been terminated.
  • Product Recalls: Everyday Gentle Bubble bath in Sweet Orange vanilla manufactured in the U.S. recalled, for potential microbial contamination, posing a health hazard; Disney Minnie pink short-sleeve top and long pant sleep set manufactured in China recalled, for choking hazard.
