  • CBSA resumes reinvestigation for certain wheat pasta imported from Turkey. The Canada Border Service Agency resumed its reinvestigation of certain dry wheat pasta originating in or exported from Turkey. The schedule for the proceeding was revised in May, shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic mitigation measures began.
  • CBSA updates memorandum on importing and exporting firearms, weapons and devices. The Canada Border Service Agency on Oct. 1 released updates to Memorandum D19-13-2, which was released May 29, 2019. The memorandum outlines how tariff item 9898.00.00 of the Customs Tariff, Criminal Code, Firearms Act, and the Export and Import Permits Act relates to the importing and exporting of firearms, firearm parts, weapons, devices and certain types of ammunition. Revisions include: information on the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty has been added; information on the storage of detained firearms at a CBSA port of entry has been changed to reflect the Storage of Goods Regulations; addition of the definition of “bore diameter” and of information on solvent traps and fuel filters as potentially prohibited devices; addition of information to amend the regulations that classify firearms (Classification Regulations) to prescribe certain firearms as prohibited firearms and certain devices as prohibited.
  • Product Recalls: Hanamit Swivel Rockers, Club Swivel Rockers and Club Swivel Gliders manufactured in China recalled, for fall hazard; various Petzl low-stretch kernmantle ropes manufactured in France recalled, for fall hazard; one lot of Sage N Sour dried cannabis manufactured in Canada recalled by Abba Medix Corp., for incorrect product label that did not include cannabinoid values for THC and Total THC, posing a hazard to users of product for medicinal purposes.
