Pascrell Complains That Forced Labor Task Force Not Yet Appointed
New Jersey Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell, who voted against the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, issued a statement complaining that the administration has not yet named the members of the forced labor enforcement task force, which was supposed to be formed by 90 days after the implementing bill's passage. The task force is meant to discuss active Withhold and Release Orders, investigations that could lead to WROs, petitions for investigations and forced labor enforcement priorities.

“I will be watching this administration’s implementation of their new trade agreement like a hawk,” said Pascrell, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. “This global pandemic has shed even more light on the inadequacies of worker protections around the globe. From migrant farming issues in Mexico, to the continuing oppression of the Uighur people in China, this task force can help our global efforts to combat forced labor -- but only if it actually exists. The administration needs to stop with golden promises of cooperation and demonstrate actual good faith efforts to comply with legal requirements, period.”
