For example, the EU is adding tariff provisions for synthetic diamonds in chapter 71 of the CN, and amending heading 2710 to account for the latest phase of maritime fuel sulfur dioxide reductions mandated by an EU directive. It is also adding a new tariff code under subheading 1901.90 for “fat-filled powders” in order to “better monitor the growing market.” The EU is also removing the “obsolete” subheading 3926.90.92 for other articles of plastics made from sheet.

Other affected tariff provisions include pharmaceutical substances and pharmaceutical intermediates, whey, grape marc, leather and hides, products of cast iron and fluorinated greenhouse gases. The new edition, as published in the Official Journal, fully replaces the current text of the CN, effective Jan. 1, 2020.
