Canada Updates Goods on US Surtax Remission Order

The Department of Finance Canada recently updated its list of goods covered in the U.S. Surtax Remission Order. "The latest changes to the Remission Order were made pursuant to the Order Amending the United States Surtax Remission Order, No. 2019-2 and entered into force on June 25, 2019," it said. The changes consist of:

According to a blog post from Willson International, "a remission claim submitted to the [Canada Border Services Agency] will be processed according to the terms of the Remission Order that were in effect at the time of the submission of that claim." That means "the only goods subject to a refund of surtax are those currently described on the June 25 list," Willson said.
