State Designates 22 People, Entities Under Iran, North Korea, Syria Nonproliferation Act
The State Department designated 22 people, entities or their subsidiaries under the Iran, North Korea, and Syria Nonproliferation Act for trading goods that may be used for weapons of mass destruction or ballistic missile systems, the department said in a Federal Register notice to be published May 22. The additions include people and entities associated or located in China, Iran, Russia and Syria.

The notice bans all sales to the companies and entities from the U.S. Munitions List, the sales of any defense-related goods and services under the Arms Export Control Act and bans all “new individual licenses” for all exports covered under the Export Administration Regulations. Any existing licenses associated with the designations under the EAR are suspended, the notice said.
The designations also ban any government entities from entering into contracts or providing “any assistance” to the people and companies, the notice said. The changes took effect May 14.
