  • CPTPP TRQ for turkey and turkey products. Global Affairs Canada issued a notice on Feb. 1 to importers that sets out the policies and practices pertaining to the administration of the tariff rate quota on turkey, including the allocation, underutilization, return and transfer policies. It also explains the process of applying for import permits. Imports of turkey and turkey products into Canada are subject to import controls under Canada’s Export and Import Permits Act, under which an import permit is required for shipments of turkey and turkey products to enter Canada. In addition, under the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership between Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam, Canada agreed to establish a TRQ of 3,983,000 eviscerated kilograms for turkey.
