- CBSA expiry review decision on certain unitized wall modules from China. The Canada Border Services Agency announced Jan. 24 it had completed its expiry review investigation, begun Aug. 28, 2018, to determine whether the expiration of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal finding from Nov. 12, 2013, of dumping is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and/or subsidizing of unitized wall modules originating in or exported from China. CBSA determined that the expiration is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and subsidizing of the goods exported into Canada. A Statement of Reasons will be issued by CBSA by Feb. 8.
- CIFA suspends fish import license of Omega Fish and Foods, Ltd. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency suspended, effective Jan. 14, 2019, the fish import license of Omega Fish and Foods Ltd., located in Calgary, Alberta, as a result of various violations to provisions under the Fish Inspection Regulations related to labeling and record keeping. The company may not import fish into Canada while its fish import license is suspended. A plan for corrective action must be documented and accompany any appeal.
- Product Recalls: Husqvarna recalls certain Husqvarna brand walk-behind mowers manufactured in China, for fire and burn hazards; Kubota Canada Ltd. recalls coolant tank caps for various ride-on mowers, utility tractors and zero-turn mowers manufactured in the United States, for burn hazard.
