Canadian Government Notices as of Jan. 23
The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of Jan. 23 (some may also be given separate headlines):

- CBSA final determination on corrosion-resistant steel sheet. The Canada Border Services Agency on Jan. 22 made a final determination of dumping for certain corrosion-resistant steel sheet originating in or exported from China, Taiwan, India and South Korea. Its Statement of Reasons will be available by Feb. 6, 2019. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal is continuing its inquiry into the question of injury to the domestic industry and will make an order or finding by Feb. 21, 2019.
- Repositioning of empty containers in Canadian waters. The Canada Border Services Agency on Jan. 16 issued Customs Notice 19-03, advising that due to the passage of Bill C-49 on Dec. 10, 2018, the Coasting Trade Act has been amended to allow vessels of any registry to reposition empty containers they own or are leasing between locations in Canada (on a non-revenue basis) without the requirement of obtaining a coasting trade license. This will help address the current shortage of containers available for export and may reduce costs for trade. These provisions are retroactive to this date.
- NAFTA textile/apparel TPL utilization. The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade updated the 2019 NAFTA textile and apparel tariff preference level utilization rate for imports and exports.
- Product Recalls: PurpleAir recalls PowerStream power supplies for PA-II and PA-II-SD air quality sensors manufactured in China, for fire hazard; John Deere recalls some Attachment Kits for snow blowers and 52-inch brooms that were sold without manuals manufactured in the U.S., for injury risk if instructions in manual (not included) not followed.
