Canadian Government Notices as of Dec. 28
The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of Dec. 28 (some may also be given separate headlines):

- CITT initiates expiry review for hot-rolled carbon steel plate. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal on Dec. 27 initiated an expiry review of its order made on January 7, 2014, in Expiry Review No. RR-2013-002, to determine if the continued or resumed dumping of hot-rolled carbon steel plate and high-strength low-alloy steel plate from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Romania is likely to result in injury. Then the Canada Border Services Agency will determine, by May 27, 2019, if there is a likelihood of resumed or continued dumping. If that determination is in the affirmative, CITT will determine, by Nov. 4, 2019, whether the continued or resumed dumping is likely to result in injury.
- CITT Statement of Reasons for cold rolled steel injury finding due in January. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal will issue a Statement of Reasons on Jan. 7, 2019, for its Dec. 21 finding of injury to the domestic industry of cold-reduced flat-rolled sheet products of carbon steel (see 1812240002). ArcerlorMittal Dofasco G.P., of Hamilton, Ontario, had brought the complaint.
- Importation and exportation of cannabis, controlled substances and precursors. The Canada Border Services Agency on Dec. 24 issued updates to Memorandum D19-9-2, which outlines the pertinent regulatory requirements and each organization’s roles and responsibilities associated with the import and export of controlled substances and precursors (including transit and transhipment) regulated under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. It replaces D19-9-2, Regulations of Narcotics and Controlled and Restricted Drugs (Narcotic Control Act, Food and Drugs Act) dated July 26, 1993, and updates the earlier version of this memorandum dated Sept. 5, 2014.
- Product Recalls: Reliance Products Ltd. recalls Bio-Green Digester, Bio-Blue Fluid and Bio-Blue Toilet Deodorant manufactured in the United States, for insufficient chemical hazard labeling and child-resistant packaging; Bonify recalls 14 lots of dried cannabis products manufactured and retailed in Canada, for a record-keeping issue that may affect quality.
